The BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation provides students with the skills, knowledge and expertise to contribute to the exciting and rapidly developing field of musculoskeletal management and care.

The BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation is a vocational, hands on course that offers students the opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and expertise in preventing, assessing, diagnosing, and treating sports and physical activity-related injuries. While studying to become a sport rehabilitator you will be trained in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries expertise that is essential across all sports, and all levels from amateur to elite.

Our innovative curriculum has been purpose built to integrate learning with our state-of-the-art facilities including onsite clinics, imaging services, treatment spaces and a pro-section laboratory. What you will learn on the course泭

Students on the course will get hands-on practical experience, learning from the expert staff who teach on the course. The course includes extensive practical and laboratory-based work to help develop your understanding of human anatomy, the biomechanics and physiology of the human body, and the pathology of injury and dysfunction.

How the course is taught泭

The course utilises a range of contemporary approaches to assessing learning, whilst also seeking to develop key泭practitioner泭skills,泭specialist expertise, and interdisciplinary approaches.泭

Delivery modes include: seminars, workshops, practice sessions, manual therapy and practice labs, placement opportunities peer and expert observations, online learning and laboratory sessions.

Students on the course are required to complete a number of practical placement hours offering the opportunity to learn and develop in some fantastic applied practice environments. You may gain experience in our on-site clinical and sport performance centres.

BASRaT - (British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers)

Graduates of this course will be able to go on to become BASRaT registered Sport Rehabilitators*.

*Eligibility for joining BASRaT is contingent on: holding a BASRaT Accredited degree or equivalent entry via the International Arrangement; obtaining a pass in the BASRaT registration exam; successfully completing a Trauma Care qualification endorsed by the faculty of pre-hospital care; and completion and submission of all other documentation in relation to Fitness to Practise.

What qualifications do I need?

Please note that applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A*-C including Maths and English, or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) to be considered for the programme.

A-levels

BBB or above to include one of; Biology/Human Biology/Physical Education. General Studies will not be considered.泭

BTEC Extended Diploma

Distinction Merit泭Merit泭or above in a relevant Extended Diploma for example; Sports Science, Sports Coaching and Fitness, Applied Science.泭

Access to HE Diploma

A total of 120 UCAS points in a relevant Access to HE Diploma for example; Sports Science.泭

International Baccalaureate

Overall grade of 32 points or higher to include either Biology or Physical Education at Higher Level.泭

T Level泭

Merit Award in any Health and Science pathway accepted.

Accreditation: Accreditation with the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT)泭

Is there anything else that is required?

We encourage anyone interested in sports rehabilitation, to gain some experience volunteering, not least to see how you enjoy real life experience in the field.

Experience is not obligatory to applying, but it will give you an edge as this will show us your level of intent and interest in becoming a sport rehabilitator.

If you live in the UK, and undertake a placement, well need a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (Enhanced DBS) check. We will guide you through this process if required. To gain a place on the course some applicants may be requested to attend an interview which may take place in person or remotely via Teams, you will be contacted beforehand to confirm.

Please note that these fees are for the 2024-25 academic year only and may be subject to increase in subsequent years of study. 泭Any increase will be in line with our Tuition Fees Policy but will not be more than 5%.

Additional Course Costs泭

Students may wish to purchase their own copies of some recommended textbooks.泭 Books are estimated to cost between 瞿50 and 瞿200.泭 Students may also wish to purchase 91做厙 University College-branded items of clothing.泭 This clothing will cost approximately 瞿50 to 瞿75.泭泭泭

BASRaT accreditation currently required students to undertake a Royal College of Surgeons Pre-Hospital Immediate Care endorsed course this will cost approx. 瞿350-500 per student.

BSc (Hons) Sport Rehabilitation ADDITIONAL COSTS

UK-domiciled applicants are required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Further information will be sent to those who accept our offer. Applicants must meet the costs of this check (瞿45 in 2023). Students from low-income backgrounds eligible for bursary support from the 91做厙 UC may be able to have this funded.
